Cons and Furs...

Recenetly, I have had several locals if they are gonna be going to califur.. and time and time again I hear "I cant im saving my money for AC/FC/insertconhere" why is this.. in my mind, if I had a reasonably priced con near me that heald my interest (Califur/LosCon/LAcon6/etc...) I would tend to go out of my way to support it, its important.. its important that we have a furrycon in Southern California, its also important that we have local Fan Run groups to plan events and such, and to a greater or lesser extent they revolve around conventions.. so why go to the trouble of flying halfway around the country, when you can meet people who have similar interests near you.. who you can hang our IRL and time OTHER then at con? yet this doesnt happen go figure.. if any of yall have any thoughts on this.. feel free to comment
