I don't believe that mass rallies and public protest are the way to get our message out, my thoughts are simple, when people voted yes on Prop 8, they had a simply gut reaction, to those "dirty fags" the way to prevent that reaction is to be openly gay, to your neighbors, friends, at work, and to your family. Its imperative in my mind, that everyone know some gay person, someone that is a average normal everyday guy, the kind of people who can stay in the closet, the Doctors, Lawyers, White Collar Professionals, the people whom the other half (who voted yes on Prop 8) dont know of as gay.
It's easy for someone to genericize us as "Dirty Fags" when its just some amorphous blob, without a face, a name or a heart, its a hell of alot harder when its someone they know and trust, like a neighbor, or family member, or coworker. Everyone, YOU can make this fight easier, come out, talk about your rights, one on one, with these people in your life, its a hell of alot harder for them to deny someone they know and care about their rights, then it is some nameless faceless group.
It's also about pride, be prideful in who you are, who god made you to be (if you so believe), I believe wholeheartedly that god made me gay, and made me this way for some purpose I dont yet know or understand, its not a choice, its not "sexual preference", it no more a choice then what your natural hair or eye color is, and we, each and every one of us must carry this message to the world, we must fight for equality, its a long hard battle, but just like many before, we will prevail.
